Survey Sheds Light on the Sexual Dynamics of Music Festivals

Just How Horny Are Music Festival Goers? One Sex Toy Company Found Out

    The Story

Music festivals are crazy popular. At any given festival, tens of thousands of people gather together to vibe out and listen to music, often over the course of multiple days. At the larger venues, tents go up and people camp out overnight, or even for days at a time, spending time with friends, dancing with strangers, and listening to their favorite artists jam out on stage.

Unsurprisingly, then, music festivals are notoriously horny places, with public makeout sessions being just about as much a part of the scenery as funky costumes or red plastic cups. But until recently, there wasn’t much hard data on the sexual dynamics of music festivals. Thankfully, sex toy manufacturers LELO decided to do some digging, asking more than 1,400 people about their experiences and motivations at music festivals. The results are enlightening, to say the least.

    The Snapshot

How horny are music festival attendees? An astonishing 46% of festival-goers copped to having had a sexual encounter at a music festival, with just over half preferring to keep things strictly PG. But things got even crazier when LELO dug into the data.

The most popular location for hookups, by far, was the tent (54% of people), as it affords some much-needed privacy while still being in the center of the action, while a ton of people confessed to using parked cars (30% of respondents) to find their privacy. The standout answer, though, was definitely the 16% of respondents who embraced the open-air hookup and the thrill of being caught. If you’ve got some exhibitionist kinks, music festivals are apparently a good place to meet like-minded people!

    The Lesson

Lots of guys are looking for something casual, whether on hookup apps or by searching at bars and clubs, but sometimes the best route to what you want is the indirect one. In LELO’s survey, a massive majority (88%) of respondents said that the “energy and ambiance” of music festivals was conducive to sexual expression, while a further 50% cited the “sense of freedom” that the open-air, anything-goes atmosphere of the right music festival can provide.

There’s a lesson here. If you can let yourself relax and enjoy the music, if you can catch the vibe and the spirit of freedom on offer, music festivals are some of the most sexually liberated places on the planet. And hey, even if things don’t work out and you don’t find a person to make out with, at least you can have a great time dancing to your favorite music.
